Cookie & Storage Policy

Last Updated: October 11, 2026 • Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act) Compliant

Pixir is built on privacy-first architecture. We do not use third-party marketing trackers or cross-site tracking cookies. This policy explains what technical cookies and local storage tokens are used, their strict purposes, and how you can control them.

You can update your consent settings anytime. Changes take effect immediately.

1What Are Cookies and Local Browser Storage?

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. In modern web applications, browsers also provide HTML5 Local Storage (`localStorage` and `sessionStorage`), which allows web apps to retain user preferences locally on your hardware without transmitting that data on every HTTP header request.

Because Pixir operates 100% client-side WebAssembly background removal, your images are never stored in cookies or transferred to cloud servers. Storage mechanisms on Pixir are strictly limited to core platform functionality, security, and transparent impression accounting.

2Categories of Storage We Use

Category 1: Strictly Necessary / Essential Storage (Always Active)

These technical keys are essential for our website to function securely and cannot be disabled. They include:

  • Security & Bot Prevention: Cloudflare Turnstile tokens to verify human visitors and block malicious bots from overloading client-side models.
  • Consent Preferences: Remembering whether you granted or customized your cookie preferences (`pixir_cookie_consent_preferences`).
  • Ad Cut States: Remembering which advertisements you have explicitly removed or cut (`pixir_cut_ads_list`).

Category 2: Analytics & Performance Telemetry (Optional)

These anonymous measurements help us understand aggregate traffic without tracking your identity across other websites:

  • Anonymous Visitor Deduplication: Computes a one-way 64-character SHA-256 hash to ensure page refreshes within 24 hours do not artificially inflate the community visitor counter.
  • Aggregate Image Counter: Increments total global processing counts without logging photo files.

Category 3: Advertising & Sponsor Impression Telemetry (Optional)

Used strictly to maintain fair, transparent accounting for our advertiser partners:

  • Impression Verification: Verifies that an ad placement achieved 50% viewport visibility so advertisers are billed accurately.
  • No Cross-Site Profiles: Pixir does not track your browsing behavior across other websites or sell your data to advertising brokerages.

4Legal Basis under the DPDP Act, 2023

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act):

  • Consent Mechanism: Where processing involves digital personal data, consent must be free, specific, informed, unconditional, and unambiguous with clear affirmative action (Section 6). Pixir provides granular toggle controls allowing you to accept or decline optional analytics and marketing telemetry independently.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: You have the unconditional right to withdraw previously granted consent at any time with equal ease using our "Manage Cookie Preferences" tool.
  • Notice Standards: This document serves as the statutory notice detailing purposes, categories, and grievance contact information mandated under Section 5 of the DPDP Act.

5Managing & Disabling Cookies in Browser Settings

In addition to our on-site preferences controller, most modern browsers allow you to block or delete cookies directly:

  • Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
  • Apple Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Block all cookies
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions

Disabling local storage completely may prevent the background removal tool from remembering your UI preferences or saving download history.
